Book a Practical Test.
Please make sure that your instructor has said when you can take your test to avoid disappointment. Most instructors know what the waiting period is for tests in their area and will ask you to put in for it in enough time to be properly prepared when that date arrives. You will need your Instructor’s ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) number on your Appointment Card. This prevents double bookings and allows the DVSA to keep a record of tests done by your instructor and to make sure standards are kept up. It is important that you keep up with your lessons once the practical test is booked or you may not be ready. Instructors will teach you certain elements after booking has taken place, there are many smaller details covered as you approach the test which will help you achieve that all important pass so persevere.
You may wish to use our Practical test booking service which is £10. In addition you will need to provide us with all the details below except that you will need to pay the test fee to us upfront either in person on a lesson or via PayPal. This is useful if you do not have access to a Credit/Debit card.
You will need the following to book:
- Your licence and number
- Your Theory certificate number and expiry date
- Date of Birth
- Your Instructors ADI number.
- Credit or Debit card.
- email address for confirmation and test information
- Date and time in mind.
Please note the dates you have in mind may not be immediately available, IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS CONTACT YOUR INSTRUCTOR IMMEDIATELY as they will be only too happy to help and advise you with the process. It’s often better this way as a mutably agreeable time and date can be made.
If you would prefer to book the test yourself click on the link below.
Please remember to Finish the process completely and forward an email copy to your instructor for your instructor. It is advisable to print off a copy and bring it with you to test incase DVSA Computer systems crash.

You can Check or Change a Practical test. However please note that there it a time limit for changes, after that time you cannot change it. If you do change a test remember to click Finish at the end or it will not be saved and the change will not be implemented. You may delay a test twice without loosing your fee but you can bring a test forward as many times as you like without penalty.
On the day of you practical test please bring the following with you:
- Theory Certificate*
- Money for hire of Instructors Car/lesson.*
- Booking Confirmation*
- Mobile phone = Switched off!
- Anything else you feel you need.
Note – * without these your instructore is not responsiblie for a cancelled test.
Please Note = Tests are sometimes Cancelled for a variety of reasons at short notice by the DVSA. Your Instructor takes no resposibilty for this as it is entirely out of their hands. e.g. An examiner maybe ill or something else at short notice so please check your emails regularly leading up to your test date.
If you Instructor does not have an ADI number or a green or pink badge in their window when teaching you they are not qualified to teach you for money AND you may not be fully insured or have been given the correct information to pass your test.
You may take the test in your own car, still but before attempting this you must make sure that your vehicle is of the required standard without any warning lights showing on the dashboard. You must also provide a rear viewing mirror for the examiner so that he can see what is going on behind you during the test. Do also bear in mind that should something unexpected happen on the test that you did not see or respond to correctly the examiner does not have any dual controls by which he may intervene to keep you safe.
